Post Vacation Slacker!

Ok, OK. I guess I have procrastinated long enough it's time to get moving on the vacation blogging. TRUST ME, it's not that we didn't have THE MOST WONDERFUL TRIP OF MY LIFE... it's just the idea of uploading pics and getting started on a two week vacation blog is... well... exhausting.

So I have come up with a plan. Yup, that's me, "Jann With A Plan" (or would that be "Plann" - laugh!) I will start blogging with day one of the "Trip of a Lifetime" and go one day at a time so as not to feel too overwhelmed (or bore my readers with a 2 hour blog read!) So here goes... hope you enjoy the postings as much as we enjoyed or fantastic vacation!

DAY ONE: July 2nd, 2010

Off to Italy! We took the Rotator (Military transportation) and flew on Ryan Airlines. We left Bahrain at 2:45 AM and arrived in Suda Bay, Crete at 6:30AM where we had a 2.5 hour layover and then on to Naples, Italy. The total travel time was 12 hours, arriving in Naples around 2:30 PM. LONG flight but the kids did pretty well.

The landing into Suda Bay was outstanding, the island looks so mountainous and beautiful. I hope to return there for a vacation someday!

Lost my right contact on the flight and couldn't wait to arrive in Naples to put a new one in! Paul was "excited" to drive our tiny rental call, a gray Fiat. It took two trips to get our luggage to out hotel, thank goodness the hotel and base was located right next to the airport.

Our first night we ate pizza and took the boys to see the new Karate Kid movie. It was an early bed time for the whole Flusche family because we have big plans for tomorrow - POMPEII!
